Cwmbran is a town in Torfaen South Wales, located in the boundaries of Monmouthshire. In 1949 it was designated as a new town to provide new employment in the south eastern part of the South Wales Coalfield. Cwmbran is the sixth largest urban area in Wales. The surrounding area has a hilly aspect to the west and north. The Afon Llwyd forms the major river valley.
The population of Cwmbran is currently estimated at 48,535.

Cwmbran is famous for its free parking, that’s right all parking in the town centre is free! It’s a relatively new town, established in the 1940s. It’s one of the largest urban areas in Wales. However, it opens its doors for guests to visit the 120 acres of land which features a wide range of pedigree and rare animals that you can meet up close. Greenmeadow is a true community farm, they work closely with the local community and welcome visitors from far and wide. There is a lovely farm café that offers a good selection of kid’s treats and homemade specials. This is a great place to visit with the family.

Originally a coaching inn built over 300 years ago, The Lower New Inn was originally called The New Inn. In recent years the old coaching inn has been taken over by Dayne Watkins & Curtis Lewis, who has created a one-of-a-kind experience and has tried to be different to other pubs in the area. All the produce they use is locally sourced and they pride themselves in offering a warm Welsh Welcome.
Pages Fish and Chips
Started by Jon Page’s grandfather is 1949, he exchanged his home for this small fish and chip bar. This turned out to be the best decision and the family have been happily serving the local community fish and chips ever since. Run by the family for over 3 generations, the bar is run by longstanding and experienced staff. You won’t find better fish and chips in Cwmbran.
Trio’s is a traditional tea shop that offers a range of home-made cakes and desserts, as well as light lunches and hot and cold drinks. There is a large indoor seating area as well as an outdoor tea garden. All their tea is served in traditional bone China cups and saucers, so this is one for the traditionalists. The menu includes; jacket potatoes, toasties, omelettes and even burgers, so make sure you check this place out.
A shopping centre named Cwmbran Centre offer up a large range of shops all in one place. You’ll find designer shops as well as High street favourites such as; Primark, House of Fraser, Jack & Jones, New Look and River Island. There’s also a good selection of kids shops such as The Entertainer, Pep&Co and Pretty Miss.
